* hours is ok or maybe too much, u need a social life too. It is what you gain from your studying and not the amount of hours you put.

OK first of all I never studied that long per day and certainly never at school and I'm bad at discipline but I kinda know what works so here are my thoughts:
1. 8 hours a day is what many working people spend and should be the maximum. They also have lunch and possibly tea break inbetween so maybe six hours a day is enough.
2. As some other people on here have said, keep it varied. Don't spend more than an hour on one thing at a time.
3. Take a mini-break every half an hour. You have to get up and walk around at least. If you can, go outside.
4. After two hours, take a longer break (at least 15 minutes).
5. Don't work on the computer for more than 6 hours a day.
6. Eat healthy, get enough exercise, stay in touch with your people.
7. Listening to music helps some people but don't focus too much on it. If you're too busy trying to figure out what helps then you're losing focus.
8. Try to keep your desk uncluttered.
9. Try to lose yourself in the work, instead of doing it as quickly as possible. That way you can concentrate and think better.
10. Try and make it interesting in some way.
11. It helps to talk to somebody who is working on the same thing or who has an interest in what you're doing.
12. Try and work in a quiet place, like a library.

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck!

Hey Cheatin, If you're studying = 8 - work or school = 8 - that only leaves 8 more for recreation, transportation, meals, and sleep put together.

Here's how Chuckles does it: 2 for drinking/smoking - 5 for 2 classes twice a week - 8 for working (2 of those for drinking at work) - 4 for getting home, getting la*d, and more smoking and drinking - allowing me 5 more for studying, eating and sleeping :D

Not everybody has photographic memory like Chuckles, and a girl to do his papers. :D

If you do 8 hours of studing that is very good. But if you study to much you can forget what you have already stydied. Take notes every other line from your book. Ask your teacher to narrow it down to what you are going to really study. If your teacher sees you putting effort in to wanting to learn then the teacher will help you. I hope these words help you and make you smarter.

Rather than increasing the hours you spend studying, try to study more efficiently. When studying for exams I always draw up a timetable. I know that I work best when I have lots of variety, so I try not to study one subject for more than two hours in one go.

Also, try to set yourself targets for each study session, that way you'll know whether you've been successful or not.

show me how to increase my 30 minutes to 8 hours will you?
lol. well let's see, 8 hour sleep, 8 hours studying? and 8 hours for the rest? no no, that's definitely an imbalance, I say reduce your studying hours and focus on what your doing while you're studying rather than putting more time into it.

It's hard to do more than an hour at a time so study for an hour, take a break, then go back to it. Don't try to do it all at one time and you'll retain more information.
