This question is asked at least once a week and its a good one.
America has been blessed with some great leaders We have been very fortunate. Our Constitution is our guide
Washington probably overall He fought for our cause for 8 years in miserable conditions with almost no resources against the best Army in the world who had never before lost to a colony rebellion. The British sent 36000 troops and 1/3 of the colonist were loyal to Briton- Washington had his work cut out for him and with out him The US would not exsist . It may also be added that communism may be calling the shots right had it not been for Washington - Think of all the other ramification that would have resulted had he not seen his destiny through - Hes my Hero as is Lincoln and Reagan

You will get many opinions for this one,and each opinion shall be based upon certain "deeds",that this particular president has achieved during his term.
Many presidents though serve their term according to national and international challenges,so they take it upon themselves to fix the Budget, for example,or the Unemployment...etc. Others think that the American glory can only be made through the "international politics"...
So,and if I,am to lift my hat to a great American president, it would be : Mr. Abraham Lincoln ...

Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Reagan are now pretty much considered the very best.

IF things work out in Iraq, Bush will be considered one of the best. If we fail in Iraq, he will still be one of the better ones. But not one of the best.
