i say it with words. i had a boss once that kept a drawer with nice gifts for his wife for when he was in the doghouse, i always thought that was funny.

words are easily said without any real meaning. I can say the sky is purple but it doesn't make it true, regardless of how sincere I sound. words are meaningless unless backed up with action or conduct that give them meaning. Words alone will never convince me someone is sorry.
Some effort is needed to back up the words. It doesn't have to be expensive but it does have to be relevant. You should try and make the situation as right as possible.

words cuz they mean more. u could say sorry from the bottom of ur heart n they cost no money. gifts r like bribing. u don't need money 2 say ur sorry. all it takes is a few words and that's it.

it depends on what kind of apology...
if i have offended somebody, i just think it's too late to apologize when we've started talking already so i do it by being unusually or extra nice to that person. it's like doing community service. hehe..
