If you are on Windows, they could have gone to a pre-made file for pictures such as My Pictures or into My Documents. If you have checked those, try looking at some of the files you almost never use and see if there's a little list of sub-folder looking icons with numbers (suspicious). Or, try looking at the list of folders you had displayed while dragging and check the nearby folders and subfolders that it could have been accidentally dropped into. Also, I don't know how many pictures you have, but if you really need the pics, you can do a search for a list of ALL Pictures, or ALL downloaded pictures and when it lists all the names, right-click and choose display as thumbnails, then look through every one of the pictures you have... long process if you have a bunch, but I've done it and it works, although time-consuming. And the odds are, that they will be at the top of the list somewhere since they are numbered. Good Luck, hope this helped a little.

This advice is on an XP computer, don't know exactly how this would work on other systems. In MY Computer, in the top bar, there is a search button. You can then have it search just for pictures. It will find all pictures on your system. Hopefully in this list of pictures it finds will be the ones from your camera. Also, alot of camera pictures start with DSC or DCSF, so you could try searching that, and it may find them quicker. Also, check the recycle bin, and any folders that were near the one you were trying to drag and drop the other ones into.

Find out what picture format your camera uses, IE: Jpg or Bmp.
If you don't have it already I suggest you then download Goggle Desktop search. You can use The search that comes with windows but Goggle desktop search is much faster and way more efficient. Anyway you want to to search for the extension of the picture files for example: type in *.bmp if it is a bmp (bitmap)
file. the astrix and the dot (*.) represent the unknown file name.
When the list of found files come up just look at the time and/or the date to identify the files you are looking for. Good luck!

Start a command prompt ( DOS )
Start, All Programs, Accessories, Command prompt.
Type in:
cd\
dir *.jpg /s |more
( it is hard to see but there is a space after
dir
*.jpg and the
/s )
This will take you to the main C: directory and search for all files that are named .jpg
It will show you a lot of files, but you need to find the ones you are looking for.
You can also save the results, just type this instead.
cd\
dir *.jpg /s > c:\dir.txt
This will search your entire hard drive, and save the listing of all jpg files into a new file called dir.txt
It will be located in the main directory of your computer.
When you are finished with the command prompt, type EXIT to quit.
The camera files may have had a different extentsion, maybe bmp or TIF, TIFF
May the force be with you.

It is still in your computer, probably you dont know where it is. If your camera is empty take a picture and try to transfer it to your computer, when doing this you will see where it is. If it is really lost and deleted from your camera you must use Media Rescue pro software to recover them
