3 months ago I had an appendectomy. And after the surgery I was given morphine to lower the pain. Whenever I was given morphine through my IV in my right arm, i would start to feel pain. Why is that?

What you felt was more of a stinging/burning sensation, some medications given through an IV can be irritating to the vein and causes what is perceived as pain.

I just spent a couple of weeks in the hospital and went through lots of IVs. They usually hurt if they weren't seated properly or if the flow rate was too fast.

Im not a doctor. My father was put on morphine when he had surgery and it didn't hurt him, I don't think.
