I also have hard wood floors. How do I get rid of them from there?

I've had best luck with a cheap solution: Sevin Garden/Poultry Dust. You can find at Walmart, Kmart, Walgreens, etc. It is safe for people and pets. Sprinkle on carpets, etc throughout the house, leave at least overnight but even couple days won't hurt. Vaccuum thoroughly (best to put a washcloth or paper filter over nose & mouth while vaccuuming). Toss the vaccuum bag when you're done. Wash any throw rugs if possible. Repeat in 2-3 weeks. For topical pet flea treatments, Frontline has worked the best for my 4 cats & 2 dogs. (Flea bombs have just made house stinky & can be dangerous- read warning labels, you'd be surprised!)

I've had lots of cats and have seen many different products. Believe it or not, the best luck I've had was by sprinkling borax crystals into the carpet. After a week or two, no more fleas. Fleas don't seem to like open floors too much, they usually go for the carpeting if they can. But you can use a mild solution of boric acid to clean the open floors. Borax/Boric acid is basically the old fashioned laundry detergent, fairly mild but fatal to ants, fleas, and roaches.

We have always had cats, and every summer, we also got fleas. We always had to have the cat treated with the good stuff from the vet, and then you can bomb the house with those flea bombs you can find at any grocers. Just plan on being gone for at least 8 hours, and vacumn with a clean bag when you get in, and throw that bag away when you are finished. Good luck! Nothing much worse than fleas, is there? :)

If you enjoy gardenning, grow aromatic herbs around your home. Fleas don't like a lot of them. In your home, use a flea-killing powder, Borax, or powdered laundry detergent. Sprinkle it on your carpet and furniture, let sit about 20 minutes, then vacuum. And keep vacuuming every day for at least 2 weeks, until you have gotten all the fleas and their eggs.

Good luck!

This willrequire that you buy a sprayer. your choice of type, but I would recommend a one gallon pump type sprayer if you intend to do this often.

Ficam-W. We have used this indoors for many years. It can be purchased, usually, at nurseries. It comes in a packet and you add one gallon of water per packet. One packet should cover your house, including furniture.
It will not harm pets or kids, last for 2 to 4 months, is inexpensive($5 or 6) per packet. We spray curtains, furniture and especially well around the edges of all rooms. We have even stripped our bed and sprayed the mattress.
