Legally you are allowed to watch R rated movies when accompanied by a parent. You are well with in the law to see a movie at home and at a theatre when accompanied by an Adult.
Do you feel uneasy watching some of the movies with your folks? Do tell them your source of discomfort. Your parents think you are mature enough to handle the material in the movies. May be your are not.
Now coming to your question regarding teenagers watching R rated movies. I'm sure that there are some who do it and they are the ones who "brag" about it in school. Why should that bother you. Your parents realise that and take you for movies that they hope you will enjoy. Don't shake that trust.
You have a R rated movie. Possession is not illegal. Watching it without a parent is.
Enjoy responsibly!

No... and I shall tell you why:
In 1970 the ages on the R and X ratings were increased from 16 to 17 (where the R rating has remained ever since), although the age on the X rating would still vary in certain jurisdictions until it was officially changed to an NC-17. Some newspaper advertisements clearly show that ages on advertising even for R and X films would occasionally be altered to read 18 instead of 17. Other local boards (involved in the early negotiations of the rating system) even wished to classify the age as high as 21 or 25, depending on the board.

can 15 year olds watch R rated movies?
yea they can do whatever the hell they want
should 15 year olds watch R rated movies?
so long as the teen is responsible/mature they should be allowed to watch the movie because as your parents said at some point they "will see that stuff anyway"
lol im just wondering but why do you care this sounds more like thats the way you wish it was and your trying to get some good ideas to present an arguement to your parents about why you should be allowed to watch R movies

I think it's OK for a 15 year old to watch R rated movies if your parents let you...which yours do. If they come with you to the theater and buy you one then your good. Yeah, a lot of teenagers watch PG-13 movies and up, or at least I do.

I don't think parents should allow 15-year-old kids to watch R movies, even with parental supervision. Nor to rent movies too. Because of the gratititious violence, sex and bad language, 15-year-olds should watch PG or PG-13 movies. Remember the incident a couple years back when Matrix came out, and a couple of teenagers copied some it, when they wore the same trench coats in the movies. It made headlines news. There's been studies that said that if teens watch violent movies or TV shows, or even play violent video games, they tend to commit violence and crimes. So stick to the facts. The answer's no. And your parents better rethink their decisions.

As a parent of three teenagers (13, 14, & 16) I would allow my kids to watch rated R movies if I viewed it with them or knew the content previously. I beleive if your parents are allowing you to watch rated R movies, then they must believe that you are mature enough to handle the content. If your parents trust you to watch these movies then they must have faith that you won't run out and preform the acts (whether they be physically violent or sexual) that are contained in these movies and you must be a very special kid.

Hm... I watched Jurassic Park when I was 2 years old (unintentionally)..PG-13 rating and I am still scarred for life by the door-opening Velociraptors..THEY CAN OPEN DOORS, DAMNIT!! DX As long as it doesn't contain something super scary that relives your worst fears and nightmares, then I don't see why not. Movie ratings are just there as suggestions, so that 5 year olds hoping to see Barney are shocked to find Saw VIII...
