Ramones are a bit older, but the style of music is very similar between the bands are the same. In the way they play things, I've heard Green Day described as the 'Modern Beatles.'

Like comparing an apple and a watermelon.
In other words - there's no comparison. The Ramones are what I call "The Godfathers of Punk", along with the Sex Pistols, etc.
What idiot compared Green Day to the Beatles? They should be shot.

HOW DARE YOU!!! Comparing Green Day to The Ramones????? If it hadn't been for The Ramones, the blokes from Green Day would be shining shoes in an airport or cleaning toilets in an old folks home!!! Green Day is notorious for ripping off riffs from bands like The Ramones and The Buzzcocks just to name a few!!! Shocking....shocking I say!!!

Green Day as the "Modern Beatles"? That's laughable as they don't have nearly the talent, don't have the same style, and do not make as much as an impact. The Ramones are better both in style and in actual talent.

Ramones would win. just because. However you have to give greenday credit, they totally went against the grain of punk and had the balls to create pop punk. bastards? Yes! visonaries? Yes. Billy Joe is a great song writer you just cant deny that! Joey Ramone, was probally the coolest looking musican ever. Modern beatles i can see where that anaolgy can come in, the beatles were cutting edge back in the day. they blended fun music with serious dept and harmony. Billy Joe could be in them shoes however Tre Cool, and the bassist dude havent had any succseful spin off bands"yet" tre cool is a hilarious drummer, that is completly crazy!! Peace bro

I dont think that you can compare them the ramones are a classical band and they are a legend! Green day hasent done their time yet! But thinks for listening!
