You are asking if a DVD Writer burn CD? Yes, it can burn CD and DVD but when you say DVD+/- RW, that is the type of blank DVD. Most DVD writer can burn CD, CD-RW, DVD+, DVD-RW but not DVD-.
If I remember correctly, DVD- is an old format. So if you buy blank DVD, remember to look for the plus sign +.

Yes it can but first Microsoft has input into its software tracking devices. you must turn it off first. the first thing you have to do is click start and then click on run. the next thing you need to do is type in the run box msconfig. that should bring up the system configuration Menu. Now you need to click on the imapi cd-burning com
Distributed Link Tracking Client
unclick the box on them 2. then click on apply and ok and then you are done. Have all the fun you want burning all the cd's you want.
