Dandelions are really deep rooted weeds which will come back year after year and send more seeds with each new growth spurt in the spring. As for them being in your garden of FLOWERS which are them selves broad leaf plants putting a herbicide down is going to be rough. If you are so inclined you can though but this is how I would do it. Get some liquid broad leaf weed killer by Scotts or Ortho you will only need a quart approximately. Pour some into a wide mouth glass jar and get a paint brush you will dispose of after. Use gloves and don't breath the fumes of course. Take your time and paint each leaf of the dandelion with it making sure you do not get it on your FLOWERS. This will trans-locate to the roots and kill it from the root up. Then come next spring I would use fabric and mulch then but even with mulch you will get weeds including dandelions but they will not be able to root through the fabric. Happy dandelion killing. Be careful.

It's called mulch or gardening fabric!

Dandelion & other weed seeds can only sprout on bare soil. If the soil is mulched properly, the seeds will never sprout. If you used gardening fabric when you planted your garden, that would also keep the weeds from sprouting.

Pull / hoe the weeds you have now and lay down the mulch or gardeneing fabric.
