Now there's a way of explaining why we've never seen any time travelers. But surely there would be some criminals who would defy the law!

Forward time travel has been proven. As you approach the speed of light, time slows down - an effect known as time dilation. Even at slow speeds, there is a very slight effect. Atomic clocks are accurate to millionths of a second. On one occasion, two atomic clocks were synchronised and one was put on a jet aircraft which made a transatlantic round trip. The one on the jet advanced a few millionths of a second less than the one on the ground. Even the International Space Station experiences time dilation to the effect of 1/100 second per year - which is too small to be of any significance.
Backward time travel may still be possible, even though we might not have been visited by time travellers. It is likely that the engineering of the time machine would only permit travel to when the time machine was first switched on. So, in your example; if a time machine is invented in 2765 - someone from the year 2800 or 2900 would only be able to travel back as far as the year 2765 and not before.

We are all proof of time travel as we all travel in time but only in one direction and only at one speed.
As for speeding up, slowing down and reversing time there is no proof and it's unlikely that it would ever happen as we would've been visited by now by someone from the future if it were possible.

It is my humble but accurate opinion that the only way we can travel in time is the way we experience it in life.
However, I did hear a theory about possible time travelers. It stated that the proof was in crop circles.
If one were to travel to a given point in time, and wanted to "MARK THE PAGE" so-to-speak, if all else were to be constants, and the crop circles were large enough, it would be in theory easy enough to return to that exact point in time, give or take a few days.
Some people have WAY too much time to ponder!!

Yes and no, well as far as current scientific understanding states.
As the famous twentieth century theretical physist could have said at a conference one time "it is all a mater of relativity" (excuse the pun) but one can travel in time (to a later time only).
No not the mass energy equation that most people associate with Einstine, but his general and special theory of relativity. Which sates amoung other things that time is inversly proportional to a function of the observers speed / speed of light geometric ratio.
In english this means as you get to 99% the speed of light your time will begin to slow. So years can go by on earth and your not even board of space meals!
Ignoring the fact that your mass will grow exponetially and ruin any conceived propulsion system yet and that you and you ship could pull like a planet or even star the closer to c (speed of light) you get.
Yes theretically possible but not practical.
As for 2765, if I could time travel then I'd only want to go forward!

time travel is possible... but proof... cannot proof to you.
it is in time travel rules not to proof to the past and future people.
but there are time traveller that violated this rule and they had to face the consequences of being in a different time line from the present; like an alternative world.

If it was ever going to be possible to travel back in time, then we would already be speaking to people from the future.
Time travel into the future is possible and just to prove it, I am going to answer this question 1 minute earlier than you think

Interesting answers above, but none really satisfying...
According to Steven Hawking, time travel is a possibility, but with limitations, and certainly not in our realms as far as our technology is concerned: we need to make "devices" that have the same characteristics as black hole (huge mass!).
The bending of the light cones near black holes "may" allow the joining of two cones and allow an apparent travel in time.
However, if we invented a machine today, we could only go forward in time, and from the future, we could only return to the time we invented the machine. (This means that if we invented the machine today, and wait 200 years, in two hundred years, we could come back to today, but not yesterday!)
On the other hand, recent scientific discoveries have "proven" that "Time" does not "exist" at particule level in some experiment when it has been proven that the EFFECT preceeded the CAUSE (the light came on BEFORE you flick the switch).
Our understanding of time is incomplete, so, travelling "within" is a matter of debate!

Absolutely time travel is possible just as it is possible to travel backwards and forwards through space hence the term spacetime, we just haven't figured out how to travel through time yet. Wasn't it not so long ago we had to work out how to travel through space and now we have probes leaving the solar system? And for all you sceptics asking if there are time travellers among us today why they have not made themselves immensely rich I suggest they have a protocol to follow such as the first law of time travel is not to use it for personal financial gain or to leave any future technology with your ancestors. I think time travellers are here today simply to gather historical information and not to interfere with our current progress because we as a society are not yet mature enough to deal with the potential consequences of time travel.

If time travel was possible where are the people to prove different ........i mean if i could travel back in time i would no longer be here and i would be somewhere where i shouldnt be and therefore im here not there ............ its a great fantasy that humans could travel in time but thats just it a ''fantasy''
