Perhaps you are looking for a representative sample for your history report. :-) Let's see what I can come up with.
1) Albert Einstein - perhaps one of the greatest thinkers of all time
2) Sun-Tzu - wrote THE treatise on the conducting of warfare, which is still relevant today
3) Augustine, Bishop of Hippo - probably the most important figure in Western society in terms of sexual mores and theological views
4) Benjamin Franklin - a polymath, perhaps the finest citizen of early American history
5) Hippocrates - laid the fountation of medical effects that persists today
6) Catherine the Great, Tzarina of Russia - one of the most powerful women in history
7) Emperor Nero Caesar - because we need a bad guy :-)
Nero would probably approve of the increasing hedonism in modern society. Hippocrates would be impressed that we've developed an advanced knowledge of medicine without doing unnecessary harm on the environment. Catherine would rejoice that women are the heads of government in a significant number of countries. Augustine would be glad that the Christian faith has survived the rise and fall of empires. Franklin would smile at the thought that Americans have kept both their freedom and their sense of humour. Einstein might be horrified at how his work has led the world to the brink of destruction, but sigh relief that we haven't done it. Sun-Tzu would probably would be interested to see how his theories of warfare have evolved into the world of business and politics.
And all of them would find San Dimas, California, to be a most excellent place to be. :-)

1 Leonardo DaVinci.....Could you imagine what he could come up with today!
2 Mozart...the original rock superstar would set music on it's ears!
3 Benjamin Franklin...free thinker, visionary, what a Secretary of State he would be!
4 Albert Einstein...hook him up with Da Vinci, we'd be swingin' on a star!
5 Hercules.........because we could use a hero.
6 Mother Teresa..........because we could use a Saint.
7 Abraham Lincoln....he deserved another chance at life and the presidency
What would their perspective on the present be?
I believe they would think that we need to get back to work and clean up this mess.

Thomas Jefferson - maybe he could restore a sense of democracy in America.
George Orwell (literary history, I suppose) - to show him what really happened after 1984.
Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Leonardo DaVinci, Galileo, and Charles Darwin - imagine what they could accomplish in these times.

Mozart
Shakespeare
Why? I would love to discover their reactions to the world/technology of today. Also, I would love to talk to them about their past works, lost works, and misinformation.
(Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed - that is a WHOLE 'nother kettle of balled up wax fish)
