I love writing letters. They're very personal and close. You can draw and send pictures. Plus they'll last many decades, unlike phone conversations which aren't usually recorded.
And if someone tells you to stop and do something else, you can just write it later, unlike being on the phone... It's probably cheaper writing a letter too.
