I assume you mean surprise good as opposed to surprise bad. It is hard to gauge right now since there is so much parity. I know I may be a homer, but watch for Iowa. They have an experienced, explosive offense, a dark horse Heisman candidate in Albert Young, a senior QB, a veteran line, and two tight ends that would start anywhere. Their D has a front four that got their lumps last year as new starters, but were animals at the end of the season, shutting down both the Wisconsin and Minnesota running attack. The linebackers are inexperienced but good, very good. The D backs are inexperienced, yet I think they are athletically better then we have had in a while, the safeties are tough and experienced. Plus we have one of the best kickers in the country. Put that together with one of the best coaching staffs in the country and you have the makings of a team that could get a BCS bowl or National Championship bid. If we get by Ohio St at home and Michigan on the road, there is no reason, barring injury this team could not be in the running.

I believe that the Tennessee Vols will be the surprise team. They may have only won five games last year but everyone who followed them knows that they were just a few plays away from winning every game they played. And with the edition of Cutliff and the team being a year older, Rocky Top will be back at the top. On another note, another suprise team will be the West Virginia Moutaineers, with Pat White and Steve Slaton, i don't seem any defenses in the country that can contain them.

Everybody is calling the UCLA Bruins to be a contender for the Pac-10 title. But people are forgetting that that is the division of USC and California. I think the team with the best chance to surprise everybody and make the BCS is the Iowa Hawkeyes. If you look at their schedule, all they would have to do is beat Ohio State at home and they win the Big 10 Title. I think they will beat Ohio State, but the two tough games on the road will be Northwestern and Michigan. However I see them going to the BCS representing the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl.
