How can I generate a magnetic field at home?

are there any creative ways of doing this with simple household items or junked eletcronics?

Coil a wire around a nail then attach each end of the wire to a battery. Your nail will have magnetic properties while the juice is flowing and may remain a magnet if the field is strong enough.

chefjoy is right,u need to buy battery of 12volt.wound copper wire over nail and attach these with battery,magnetic field will be produced
