I'm curious about whether we would both have dual citizenship in each other's countries or if we would have to pick one country to live in.

since my husband is american and I am canadian...we are choosing to live in Canada, once he gets his papers he can file for dual citizenship. I would have to file as well if I wanted to go back and forth I believe.

do you realize what it takes to live in Canada? do you know the paper work that it takes to have your partner legally in the US?

check out this website for Canada...www.cic.gc.ca it isn't as easy as just getting married

It is a misconception that marriage automatically makes you a citizen of that country or automatically gives you dual citizenship...wrong! You still have to file the paperwork and you need visas to cross back & forth over the border. I believe the cost of filing all this is around $1500. My stepson married a Canadian girl...it's not as easy as you think.

you're able to desire to have some place of residing in one or yet another usa for the significant other to get citizenship. in case you reside in the two each and every will desire twin citizenship. And in case you reside in 2 international locations, you get to do 2 tax returns.
