I was with my "fiance" for 2 years and 4 months. We broke up because i wanna go back to school and we were fighting all the time. i love him he is my bestfriend and we got along really well. but whenever we were toegther towards the end it was constant fighting all the time about the most absurd things. So we decided to seperate for a week and then discuss what the next step was. well he called me the day b4 i was to come back and know what he forced me to tell him what i've thought about and i pretty much said , well i think it would be better for both of us if we broke up before we grew to hate each other. so we did after a lot of yelling. he knew it was the right choice. so why am i not sad about it? how come the only time i cried was during our phone conversation? someone tell me!!!!

Apparently you knew awhile ago that it was over. Fighting all the time is not a healthy way to communicate and you are entitled to cry over the end of what was probably an exhausting relationship. But that is it ,it was the end of the relationship to you and you probably grew apart on your own it just took the words for you to get over or out of it.I give you credit to realize that it was over before you both were hurting each other in more than a verbal attack.I hope that you can realize that this experience is something you can learn from . I think in your heart you knew you were ready to just end it with him ....even though yall were ingadged ... I am sure there is a guy out there who will support you going back to school. I always think of this ... if its ment to be some how yall will find each other again and get back together . Something will get yall together again if its ment .... But if not then you'll move on . Plus I rather be ok with the break up then be so sad ! I think you'll do great in school in stuff so good luck you'll find that guy ... well I dont know if this helped but i tried good luck! You might not cry but it does hurt...you still look at him as ur closes friend..and that is really a good idead and no need to cry ur a women.
You know what u wanted ( to go back 2 school and you did)
just remember friendship is the key to keep you happy when lovers never work out.

These are some valid reasons, but...
you could be in denial, feeling numb is a sign. Something will eventually trigger the feelings of loss. Just don't be surprised if this happens too.

i think that you know it is best, you said it yourself if you don't do something about it now you will grow to hate each other. Even though you love him, you know what is best for both of you. How can you be sad when you are really doing something positive for the both of you.
