It's short for "HomeBoy" but I guess you don't know what that means too.Well, let me make it simple for you. "Homies or Homeboys" means friends who are close, chill with you everyday, are down for anything, and are there for you through thick and thin. From what I know it was came up by Chicanos. We also call each other "Holmes" too

Well in the military

You travel all over the world. It is good to meet someone from your state that you have never met until you got to Germany....

You call them Homie because the are from the same state (and sometimes from the same city as you are from)

Well, it came from the word "home-boy", you know meaning your "boy" or "friend" from your hometown. I think that is why=)
