OKTOBERFEST IN MUNICH 2006 - We are going to Oktoberfest. Does anyone know about making reservations?

There are several tents and apparently reservations are made to get into them. How do you get the reservation made? It's probably too late for that, but do we have to go really early and find a place and then stay in the same place all day in order to get a good seat?
