yes there is a difference in their DNA. It is a sex linked trait, meaning it is found on the X chromosome. The reason men are more prone to baldness is that they only have one X chromosome, therefore there is no other allele to balance it out. Therefore, men can thank their mothers for their baldness!!

It isn't having too much testosterone that make men go bald, it is an increased intolerance and sensitivity to it that causes it. As much as 50% of men will have gone completely bald, or have lost the thickness of their hair by middle age. It's just one of those things.

High testosterone is said to be linked to baldness (IE, Men who build muscles easily, and are hairy...you have a greater chance of going bald).

well, for my 2 cents worth, I think going bald is linked to being raised on a poor diet... probably not the most scientific observation but mine non the less...!

yes there are autosomal gene that responsible for this bald, but expression of this genes is dependent on the hormone constitution of the individual
