Around 1300 BC Moses lead them there, and they stayed. They Called the land Israel.
In 586 BC the Babyonians scattered 10 tribes across the world. But some still stayed. The called the land Judea.
In 70 AD the Romans destroyed Jerusalem and sent Jews all over the world (again). But a few still stayed... Now it was called the land Palestine.
In 1948 the United Nations parcelled Palestine at the request of European Jewish Zionists. "A land without a people, for a people without a land." The arabs in the area considered the UN action as illegal, and they've been fighting ever since.

Only about 3500 years of history of the Jews in the middle east caused them to be there. This includes Abraham, Noah, Moses, the Jerusalem, Telavive and a refuge from the Holocaust of WW2. Other than that there is nothing much.

1. There are many actual semitic Jews whose families go back to biblical times. They belong to the land as much as the Muslims do.

This should answer this question. If not, then you at least be more equipped to ask more specific questions.
