We did an experiment in Physical chemistry studying the IR absorption of HCl

The book is called "Experiments in Physical Chemistry"

There are books that will give you the molecular band absorption spectra of small molecules, with the bandheads listed by angstrom or nanometer. MIT publishes one such reference book. The Vatican published another.
