If you read the book it is becasue he knew he could not win absent emotion and his training taught him that emotion led to the dark side. The thing about vader was that he had both love and hate in him. Balance. Vader was always the only one who could kill the emporer. Not even Luke could, but without Luke and Leia to remind Vader that he had Love inside him, his hate would continue to rule him. When the emporer turned his attacks on Luke that was when Vader snapped back to being Anakin and killed the emperor. Yoda had no passion to fight off the emperor's hatred which fueled his fighting techniques. It was in the book that way. They never put the explanation in the movie. That is a good sign that there might be more movies to come.

Because the Emperor was really George Lucas, and that would kill off the "following" movies. And why didn't Obi Wan finish off Vader? And wouldn't you think the Dark Lord of the Sith would have a better dental plan?

Yoda left because of the prophecy or because he was injured and couldnt defeat Sidious. Plus he lost his good friends and the whole Jedi Order, which left a big scar on him.

Also I thought that Yoda could have at least tried again with Obi Wan instead of going into exile. He should have at least died trying!

They needed to keep it open for 4, 5 and 6 to make sense since they were made first 20 years ago. I am sure it would have been considered if the last 3 weren't made first. Yoda could totally whoop the Emporer's toosh!

He probaly couldent defeated the Emperor with just the force neither had their lightsabers, plus the fall had to hurt. And the Emperor could have called for clone backup.

Yoda couldn't have beaten the Emperor with all the stormtroopers converging on the location, they were in the Emperor's home turf.

Because of the prophecy, they said that they thought anakin was to be their savior, but then they realized he wasnt so yoda was sent away to be dorment until the ONE would come for his guidance and training
