The All-American Rejects began their career in the late 1990s. Tyson Ritter (vocals, bass) and Nick Wheeler (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals, drums) met at a party during high school. Mike Kennerty (guitar, backing vocals) and Chris Gaylor (drums, percussion) joined in 2002.

The band (then consisting of only Ritter and Wheeler) released their first independent album in the spring of 2000, and eventually built up a large local fanbase. They went on to open for The Flaming Lips and Caroline's Spine. Their music was also licensed for use on then-hit MTV show Undressed.

In the summer of 2001, the Rejects released the EP Same Girl, New Songs and began to tour the American Midwest. By the tour's end, the band had signed a contract with Doghouse Records — the label of such bands as River City High and The Get Up Kids.

Then, in 2002, with producer Tim O'Heir (who had, in the past, worked with bands like Superdrag, Sebadoh, and Juliana Hatfield), the Rejects recorded their international debut album. From this album came the single "Swing, Swing," for which the Rejects were best-known for several years (so much so, in fact, that some termed the band a one-hit wonder). The self-titled album hit stores on October 15 of that year.

In 2005, the group released their new album, Move Along on July 12, from which came the single "Dirty Little Secret". The music video features images from collective art project PostSecret. Later that year, the All-American Rejects saw themselves forced to cancel several concerts, including a full European tour, after their touring keyboardist Tim Jordan commited suicide. The second single "Move Along" was released in January 2006. Within the first weeks after premiering their video, it has been on the TRL countdown ever since, hitting number one for days in row, moving from place to place. The video seemed to be a tribute to Jordan. In June 2006, the third single, "Top of the World", which appeared in the video game Burnout Revenge, was released. The song has a distinctive Spanish influence. The album also contains the track "Night Drive," which was featured in the video game Madden NFL 2006. In July 2006, the single "Move Along" was announced as the official WWE Diva Search 2006 theme song.

In 2006, the band toured around the US with Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, From First To Last, The Hush Sound, and October Fall in the Black Clouds and Underdogs Tour.

Nick Wheeler thought of the name, All-American, since they were all American, and Tyson thought of the name, The Rejects. So when they put it together, they got The All-American Rejects.

They are going on a headlining tour called "Tournado" w/ Motion City Soundtrack, The Starting Line, The Format, and Gym Class Heroes.

While growing up in Stillwater, Oklahoma, both All-American Rejects vocalist/bassist Tyson Ritter and guitarist/programmer Nick Wheeler played guitar in junior high bands, turning to music to escape the small-town doldrums. Yet, the two budding musicians didn't cross paths until Nick and his band performed at a party one night, where Tyson was working the door. He has said that there were only about 30 kids there and he was getting bored, so he impulsively joined them onstage as their bassist. Determined to stay in Nick's band, Tyson immediately purchased a bass guitar and learned to play the simple melodies needed for this musical style within only weeks. Many high school friends of either Wheeler or Ritter note that Nick apparently spent much time and effort with Tyson teaching him how to sing well enough to be the lead singer of the ideal band Nick was trying to form.

Tyson was overweight for a brief period as a teenager. He worked hard to come down from his 215lb (97 kilogram) weight by trying running five miles (approx. 8 and a half kilometres) every day.

Wheeler, a fan of Def Leppard and '80s glam-rock, built a songwriting friendship with AC/DC fan Ritter, throughout high school. As the rest of the group disintegrated, they remained together and played gigs around Stillwater as a duo, backing themselves with programmed drum loops on Wheeler's keyboard. The pair recorded several demos after the band became official with the addition of Mike Kennerty (guitar) and Chris Gaylor (drums).

Tyson Ritter (vocals/bass) and Nick Wheeler (guitar/programming) were in junior high school when music started to influence them. Both were stuck in the ho-hum life of small-town America. Stillwater, OK, wasn't exactly the most exciting place in the world, so naturally the boys turned to music. While Ritter was staying up late, watching music videos and rocking out to AC/DC, Wheeler was on the other side of town raiding his sister's music collection of Def Leppard, Poison, and Bon Jovi records. Wheeler soon picked up a guitar and later mastered the drums and piano. By high school, both were music freaks and in their own little cliques. At a party, Ritter spotted Wheeler; it's safe to say that the spiky rock fun of the All-American Rejects was established right there. Mike Kennerty (guitar) and Chris Gaylor (drums) were added to Wheeler and Ritter's rascal group by 2000 and the band was official. With production work from Tim O'Heir (Sebadoh, Juliana Hatfield, Superdrag), the All-American Rejects independently released their self-titled debut on Doghouse in October 2002; several months later it was reissued by DreamWorks. Move Along, which marked the band's debut for Interscope and hit the Top Ten, followed three years later.

I know they suck.... but that is just me.

PS- Don't take answers to questions about bands so personally. It's not worth it.... come and play in the Politics land... man, that will toughen you up.

THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS LYRICS

"Dirty Little Secret"

Let me know that I've done wrong
When I've known this all along
I go around a time or two
Just to waste my time with you

Tell me all that you've thrown away
Find out games you don't wanna play
You are the only one that needs to know

I'll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
(Just another regret, hope that you can keep it)
My dirty little secret

Who has to know
When we live such fragile lives
It's the best way we survive
I go around a time or two
Just to waste my time with you

Tell me all that you've thrown away
Find out games you don't wanna play
You are the only one that needs to know

I'll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
(Just another regret, hope that you can keep it)
My dirty little secret

Who has to know
The way she feels inside (inside)
Those thoughts I can't deny (deny)
These sleeping dogs won't lie (won't lie)
And all I've tried to hide
It's eating me apart
Trace this life out

I'll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
(Just another regret)

I'll keep you my dirty little secret
(Dirty little secret)
Don't tell anyone or you'll be just another regret
(Just another regret, hope that you can keep it)
My dirty little secret
Dirty little secret
Dirty little secret

Who has to know
