The URL below directs you straight to the "Help Desk" info you'll need. If you scroll down, you should see a link for "Account Deletion", which will take you to where you can confirm deletion of your *entire* account, which is the only way to delete an email account. You'll have to log into your account first, as normal, but afterwards you should be able to create a new email address if you wanted to.

Not using it for 60 days deletes the email you have stored not the account itself.Once you're ready to cancel your Yahoo account, follow these steps:
1. Log into the Yahoo! account you are going to cancel.
2. Click the "mail" link.
3. Click on "My Account" on the upper left.
4. You'll have to re-enter your password.
3. Click on "Edit/Create Profiles" on the right.
4. Scroll down and click on "Read our help pages."
5. Scroll down and click on "How do I close my account?"
6. Type in your password at the bottom and click "Yes."

o to the Yahoo account deletion page and login with your username and
password. Then, to confirm once and for all that you want to delete everything associated
with your login profile, enter your password again and click the
button that says ‘Terminate this Account.’

Don't use it for 90 days, and it is automatically deactivated. I don't think you can just delete it though.
