What are the benefits of getting a bachelors degree in social welfare over a master's degree in psychology?

My future goal is to do one-on-one counseling with teens and adolescents.. Please relate to me the benefits and drawbacks for choosing a social welfare major or a psychology major.

Any Master's Degree is accepted over a Bachelor's -
If for no other reason than - the additional time and expense of education. . .

A degree is social work is beneficial because you will be trained to do counseling (if you go to a decent school) plus you will be more marketable because you are cheaper for insurance companies to pay for. Still though it is best to get a Master's if you do choose social work/social welfare because a lot of jobs are grant specific and require a Master's level or even a license. However you will still be more marketable because in essence the insurance companies/Medicaid won't have to pay as much for your services.

A SW degree is more marketable and offers an entry into a MSW . If you are going to RESEARCH ,choose the Psych . It's all reading and research .You can easily get work with the social welfare degree.......Just look around you ...
