It should be talent but sadly any glance at the celebrity mags will tell you that looks can be the deciding factor. Look at Orlando Bloom. The guy can't act to save his life but he's so successful just because he's good looking. You get other really talented actors who aren't anywhere near as successful as they aren't as good looking and aren't leading man material.
The difference is that fame achieved just through looks with no talent won't last as long as someone who is a really really great actor or singer. Thats what lasts.
I also think a very major element of success for a celeb is having a good publicist and manager and knowing the right people.

Just look at Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan. They are celebrities and have no talent whatsoever. Unless you consider low budget porn and club hopping to be talents.

talent is definitely more imp., if some1 doesn't hav talent, i wont watch them. unfortunatedly people get famous 4 their looks, but talent is definitely important

i have the perfect example...the rapper Chamillionaire....people may think he's ugly as f u c k but he has major talent ...he one of the hottest MC's out there...so therefor i would say TALENT!

well accordin 2 Paris Hilton its all about the looks cause let me tell u somethin she does not have any talent wat so ever but in my opinion i think the talent iz important cause i dont think celebritys would be any ware in hollywood in they didnt have talent { well atlease any celebrity besides paris hilton} !!!!
