So? What difference does it make if she's an "orphan" or not? If she's with family, then so what?? What's it to you?
Obviously you have not visited her home. If you had, you'd have the answer to your question.

If she is your 'friend' there should be no problem with asking her, just don't be too nosy when you mention it.
If she feels like talking about it, she will.
It shouldn't make any difference one way or another....if you really are her 'friend'.
