the same as the speed of light, darkness is just light on another wavelength.

I believe it is variable, from nothing to infinite...darkness does not really exist, it is just the absence of light.
Consider this: You have a light source that emits light in all directions. You place it at the center of a very large ring of some material. You then place an object travelling near the speed of light in between the 2, and make it orbit the light source. Now, because of the distance involved, the object's shadow on the ring would move faster than the speed of light. Multiply the distances up, and you could make the shadow travel any speed you liked.
Ever since I first heard this I have been trying to mentally convince myself that it isn't plausible, but it does seem to work.

Is this question inspired by Terry Pratchett? In the discworld Novels, the point is made several times that Darkness must move faster than light, as it has to get out of the way to make room for the light! Of course, on Discworld, the speed of light is just a little faster than that of sound, due to light being decelerated on entry to the thaumatic field. Ponder Stubbins can explain it all, though probably by invoking the word 'Quantum'.
In our world, darkness does not exist as an entity, it merely the absence of light.

thats not a thesable question. What do you mean? how fast does darkness travel? where to? Unlike "the speed of light", darkness is not the same. Darkness, is "nothingness". It is space without light. Therefore, you cannot measure darkness.

As far as I know, blackness is absorbing colours, if you mean the speed of no light then it is the same speed of light.

darkness is a reversal of light. light travels at 186000 miles per second. as light arrives things get lighter so differing amounts of light are reaching th eplanet so reverse the theory.
