His name was Uri Geller or Yuri Geller - Russian.
It was a trick, he never did the trick under controlled circumstances when tested.

Uri Geller. Although he maintains that he has psychic powers, he is actually a magician. His "spoon-bending" method is as famous as his failures, most notable on the Tonight Show on a national TV audience. Novice magician Johnny Carson stumped the psychic simply by selecting his own spoons and not letting Geller or his staff near them.

Correct spelling: Uri Geller (pronounced 'oor-ee'); native Israeli. Visited USA in mid-'70s. Very convincing in person; also did other feats. Skeptics really slammed him as a stage act, but having read his autobiography, I remain convinced at least some of what he demonstrated was genuine.

his name was uri geller and he was a magician, he didn't use his mind to bend the spoons. the trick could easily be reproduced by a guy who went around debunking him (the Amazing Randi) -- whole thing was a hoax.

No one. Uri Geller claimed that he could, but if you watch a videotape of him doing it, you'll see that he actually uses his hands.
