Never excahnge you dollars for peso at the airport, you get a crappy rate. BPI bank is one of the best. Do not bring traverls checks. I would opne BPI account in america and then withdraw the money once you are there in manila. Money is safe, you do not have to worry about carry a lot, and you have account you can use all over the Philippines.

you can have it changed at the customer service at SM malls or other Major department stores like Robinsons Place. You might also want to open an ATM account in the US for your use here, my aunt is using wells fargo and it it isaccepted in all major banks. Philippine National Bank (PNB) , Bank of the Philippines Islands (BPI) and Metrobank are also good choice of banks

Money changers - you'll get a better rate from them, but be watchful of your environment. Go to money changers thats located inside the malls , its much safer there.

Banks- I think they only change money if you have an account with them...

Relatives /friends- check out the peso-dillar rate in the newspapers then ask them to buy those dollars from you.

Money changers, in general. The banks tend to surcharge and exchange at the worst rates. Only thing worse would be travelers' checks.

Two type of money changers: legit, licensed ones you find at the hotels and department stores like SM, Robinsons, etc; black market ones where you really need to know who you're dealing with but provide the best exchange rate.

I am on vacation and visiting countries.one of them is Philippines .. as far I would suggest to change your dollars at the airport..it would be the best place..but if you have lots to change... make sure you know the limit if you are visiting the country.. travelers cheques are safe though not recomendable. but if you are sending them...door to door companies is good and they change american dollars to pesos.
going to bank is time consuming but would help as they offer services more safe.

The ones mentioned before are good and safe. But, if you have Filipino friends, do try to ask them where they go to have them changed. Locals have their own "favorites" who have higher rates especially for 100 dollar bills.
