We in IL have these flowers I have never seen before. Everyone calls them surprise lily's I think. They are really pretty. Tall stem them a lilly like flower that is pink on top.. Can you just buy the seeds I'm wondering? And they only come out right about now..August.

you can get them in nurseries - and they come in bulbs (the same as other lillies). They have several names: surprise lillies, naked ladies, magic lillies. The link will take you to a great page about them. I have them in my garden and they are fantastic! The leaves come up first, then they die off, and a few weeks later - surprise! (they have no leaves when the flowers bloom, hence the name "naked lady"). Mine are planted on the east side of the building where they get sun until around 2 pm, but they do well in full sun too.
(I live in Missouri, and we have them as well, they look awesome in people's gardens or even a corner of a lawn - I got mine from a friend's garden in Belleville IL)
Best wishes and happy gardening!

(To Mocha - actually they are a kind of amaryllis, but for some reason they call them lillies as a common name! Yes they do sell them in packets at times, so you are also right - but always bulbs as the seeds are sterile)

Yes you can buy packets of seeds. Some people call them Surprise Lilies. Some people call them Naked Babies. I don't understand that one, but maybe someone else out there knows why.
Edit:
Oops, the previous answerer is right. They are bulbs. I guess I've seen their pictures on some kind of packet, but of course lilies would have to be a bulb.
