Your body is holding on to water because you're not drinking enough of water.
If you drink lots of water your brain sends a message out that you don't need to store any and gets rid of it.
Keep away from salty foods and avoid MSG as it holds about four times more water than salt (Western chinese food has tons of it in). Walkers crisps have now reduced salt in all their bags that's because they increased the MSG which is worse than salt.

Drink plenty of water, 8 glasses a day. Also cutting down on sugar, wheat and carboyhydrates help. You can also try support hose if its bad in the legs and feet. Read here for more info.

Take salt tablets. The body will retain more water in an attempt to keep the same saline level.

Id suggest you drink more water as the reason you have this retention is that your body is holding on to what is there.so in theories the more you drink(water)the less it needs to hold on to.
