I guess if I had to pick one I would say Star Wars because it has been around since the late 70's yet you still see it in today's culture. The Lord of the Rings was good but it wasn't a film that everybody liked. Who doesn't like at least one of the Star Wars films. And as for the Matrix, you have to respect what the first Matrix did for the action genre, it really did revolutionize the way that action scenes are done. Many things had to be invented just for that movie (bullet time). The movies did fall off with the sequels but the fight scenes were amazing. But Star Wars wins just because of how it has retained the interest of people for so many years.

I rate Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings about equal. Loved them both. The Matrix was really good but comes in third against these two.

The Lord of the Rings really annoys me, the 1st Matrix is good, but then they get really weird and crappy, so i'd say Star wars.

The Lord of the Rings has that contest won, hands down. The acting, costumes, makeup, storyline, and especially the special effects were above anything the other movies put on the screen.
