Do you know that purely good [heroic] or purely bad characters are out of fashion and uninteresting in literature for about 100 years now?.. Try to come up with traits that would make your characters special, but not heroic. If a character is compasdionate, brave and wise, its very boring. If he's brave, wise, but so ignorant, you interest me, make me wonder why tf he has become such. Put some intrigues not only in the plot, but also in characteristics

A sense of humor. Not many super heroes have this trait and the lack is a shortcoming. It may not seem "heroic," but it's absolutely essential in any relationship and would humanize the hero who is otherwise more of an alien.

A trait that makes Odysseus an epic hero is that he's rather brave and intelligence. He confirmed braveness and intelligence while he became in Polyphemus the Cyclops's cave. All his men panicked yet Odysseus stored his cool.

The hero's com-passion follows from his general passion.
Courage is a typical hero's trait, but wisdom is not: indeed, many heroes are courageous to the level of foolishness.
What do you think about these:
(Com)passion
Courage
Insight
Solitude
I think "insight" is more fitting than "wisdom", as the hero often sees into things it would be wiser not to see at all.

Strength-- metally, emotionally, and physically
Weakness-- I love characters who can admit their weaknesses and faults
Loyalty-- A good hero should be loyal to his friends.
There are many others, but I can't think of them. Hope this helps!
