OK....92 chevy Lumina Euro...V6 3.1 automatic...the guy at Auto Zone said it read a code 42, but for a Cadillac, not even my car, which he said was an 02 sensor. OH, I did drive it in reverse for a block, just to get it home. Thought you might want another laugh, haha

I have a 94 chevy lumina that cuts out or stalls after warming up. We've changed the fule filter and used gas treatment too. The check ingine light comes on only once in a while. Could it be spark plugs?Fule pump? Also, it runs OK in reverse, even after it starts messing up

an o2 sensor will not cause a noticable runability problem. as i said before a complete tune up, remove and clean the port for the idle air control. the only other thing could be the ignition control module but do the tune up first as im sure it needs it. the code for the o2 sensor is being created because of the misfire and the o2 senses it, cant change it then sends a code, as for the guy at autozone, tell him to go back to mcdonalds. any other questions, email or message me irtlmn@yahoo

Autozone, I had experienced some of these stores. Unfortunately, there are experts and rookies at these stores. Code 42, necessarily doesn't pertain to a Cadillac, in fact it is the same code referenced on my GMC K2500. I had that code read out once, it stated a O2 sensor, but my sensor was O.K. I don't know about your car, but my problem was simply a bad wire connection. All Wire terminals should be clean for optimum performance and service.
