Do you think it is possible under today's chase format? If Denny stays in the chase and continues to do well, is it possible and likely for him to win the championship?

Other than the very first year of NASCAR, there has not been a rookie win the Championship.

Can a rookie win? Absolutely. But it would be very, very tough even with the Chase. Denny Hamlin may have the best of chances, but I am not sure that he has shown the consistency that is needed. He will have to run Top 10 in every race during the Chase to have a chance.

I think its is very possible. When the points get reset for the last ten races and pending on where he is i think he has a very good chance. That is why they set it up this way. Just look at the first chase in '04. If they didn't have that set up Johnson would have it, But instead Kurt Buch won it. Anything could happen. But i do think Denny has a good chance as long as he stays consistent

There has never been a rookie who won but last year Carl Edwards tied for second place! I think it is very possible with the competition today and the set ups of the cars for that to happen.

Dale Earnhardt won the rookie of the year in 79,and the Winston Cup in 80,no other driver, not Richard,Cale,Darrell,or any other one can compare, but Jeff Gordon is challanging his races(wins),but as a true driver,he downplays it,because if The Man,was still alive, nobody would ever beat him!

No! The only person to win rookie of the year one year and the championship the next was Dale Earnhardt.
