On it's own, sex is not bad.
But to fail to follow the manufacturers manual will leave the user at the end of the day in pain, real emotional wound and scar if he survives it.

I would tell her to go ahead and try. She clearly isn't your friend and then you will know if your boyfriend is right too. You will have been lucky enough to weed out two unworthy people from your life.
