After reading all the other responses how can anyone come to the conclusion that infinity is a relative thing? NO! NO! NO! NO!

Infinity is an ABSOLUTE, a mathematical concept, as nearly everyone has pointed out. It is a useful fiction that allows certain mathematical operations to be carried out, in the same fashion as the 'square root of -1'.

Whether or not infinity exists depends on how you decide to look at the question and define your analytical terms.

In mathematical and conceptual terms, yes.

In physical terms, no.

Physically, infinity is a matter of the observer's frame of reference - it is a limit or asymptote that can never be reached simply because it doesn't exist in physical, but only in relative terms.

If you were anywhere inside an expanding sphere of light, you could travel for eternity in any direction and never reach the edge of that sphere. This physically means that from your point of view, the size of the expanding sphere (like the 'edge' of the universe) is infinite because you could never reach the edge no matter the direction or amount of time or speed you travelled, unless you could violate the light speed barrier.

The same sphere that seems infinite in extent from an internal frame of reference, would, from an external frame of reference, have a finite size.

A physical entity can appear infinite in extent from one frame of reference while at the same time appear quite finite and limited in extent from another frame of reference.

Both zero and infinity are relative concepts in the physical world of our experiences and quite different from their mathematical definitions.

Infinity is a mathematical concept, not a physical entity.
The notion that there is an infinite amount of anything is incorrect.

Infinity may be said to be comparative. When the quantity being considered is so large compared with basic units, this extremely large quantity is said to be infinite. All grains of sand contained in the earth's crust is infinite compared to a grain of sand.

welll, space is a wide open place,i dont think there is such a thing myself because to be honest it would take up the whole universe and how would you survive,to be honest i really dont know, but cant see it to be a possibility at all really, just my view.

Infinity is just another word for endless, i.e people say infinity when they talk about numbers to say that they never stop, people say infinity talking about astrology to represent that the space in outer space just goes on and on and on.

finity has to with physical point of life. whatever you see, touched, hear or sensed has this quality. But if i ask you to close your eyes & tell me what you see, you will say nothing. Yet nothingness is something. It is void or Nothingism. That is the gate way to your inner most self. It has no begining or end. That is infinity.

If infinity minus one exists then so does infinity

If I had asked that question Eric, I would have got answers like:
Your Butt is infinitely big.
This question is infinitely boring.

But you get away with it. Cool......

no there is nothing as infinity in reality. its for making our mathematical calculation to reach some answer or decision. its only for studies point of view.
