I would when the time is right. I am starting a new job Monday so I don't expect a raise for some time but when I feel I have learned enough and deserve a raise I sure will ask for one.

There is nothing wrong with asking for a raise - half the time if you don't the employer won't. Some employers do yearly reviews - only you can advocate for yourself so do it! Don't listen to these people telling you not to - men do 4x more than women and we deserve to - we work hard too so go for it!

Absolutely - it is actually easy to do. Be careful to ask escpecially when the company seems to be doing well - business is good. If you have missed work recently, etc I would not ask yet. You ask for a time when you can meet with them privately and be ready in your head to go over the reasons why you feel you deserve one - I have done this, stay late, come in early, never missed a day, been here for x amount of time, improved this, excelled in that, etc.

When you sit down with them tell that you realy enjoy working with the company and that it also contributes to your personal and professional growth and that you feel that the company offers you a lot but that you also have so much to bring to the company and so much that you are contributing to the company. Tell them that you would like a review - any things that you can improve on or any feedback on what they think that you do well. After going over any reasons that you may have, you then say, these are the reasons I feel that I deserve a raise and I would appreciate it if you could take it into consideration. See what they say and thank them for their time.

Here is an article with some tips for getting a raise in tough times.Be confident, assertive and good luck!

yes only if my boss sees that my hard work and dedication is paying the company it's good dues plus sometimes you have to know when to fold'em and when to hold'em so i think it comes down to whether or not i need it for financial or social reasons but whatever you need the raise for make sure the reason counts because nine times out of ten some bosses won't give you the time of day based on your work in the office but they will tell ya no due to the fact they want a reason why you should get a raise so it really depends on your situation so i would ask at my own risk

I have before and if they say no and you know you've been there long enough and your performance deserves a raise, find something better, that's when they always decide to change their minds and find some extra budget money from somewhere to up your pay. Sometimes just letting them know you're seeking employment elsewhere will scare them, it's worked for me and two other coworkers before. We were bank tellers and they knew they couldn't afford for the whole department to quit so they upped our pay in like two days after they found out the branch manager who had just quit called us and got us interviews at his new bank so we could come work for him where it was more money. We stayed put but eventually everyone ended up leaving still.

you ask for a raise, your boss will say yes or no, but if he say no then he might think you will go somewhere else to get paid what your worth! but if he says yes then you get what you want, and make sure its a raise more then 5% because that was the inflation rate last year!LOL

I hate to answer a question with a question. But do you feel you deserve a raise? If so, feel free to ask. Provide yourself with hard evidence, such as a time card or work record. The worst he/she could say is no.

(Do this in less, by chance, you are your own boss. In less you have to prove to yourself you deserve one. ;-D)

If your boss was making alot of money and you are there and helping him make that money your darn right i would,, I feel if he is gonna make alot of money then he should share the profits a bit because the people that do the work are the ones that make it or break it,

It doesn't hurt to ask, but to increase you chance of success,
you will need to give your boss a good reason or reasons to do so. Prepare a list of accomplishments and make your case in front of him (no email).

At my present job? No. This company has lots of money, little or no benefits, long hours, low pay, strange rules. It wouldn't be worth my energy to even ask. I have at other jobs though, and always gotten something in return.
