people who only have labour to offer are exploited by the rich with capital. poor people continue to work their *** off all their life in the hope of becoming rich, something which rarely happens, Most of us know this but why do we accept it, and even more importantly why do we accept our childrens live to be governed by huge corporations who dont care about people and only money?

the expoitation occurs because people are pushed into a position where all they have to offer is their labour

this labour is exploited byt he rich capitalist because he does not pay the labourer a fair wage for the profit he gains from the labourers work and instead pays him the minimum he can get away with.

This means the powerfuls get more powerful and the "wage slave" becomes weaker.

however it does apply on a global scale with the whole developed world undeveloped world unfair trade which stops poor countries competing in markets and keeps them poor and therefore exploits there labour mineral and raw materials.

even more worrying its created a hidden modern eugenics where by poor africans and chines have undesirable population growth whereas, the slowdown of population growth in the west is seen as bad.

its the same as the eugenics of the nazis just under a different guise.

the world is so hypocritical and fucked up

Roadkill has just written the most eloquently put pile of bullshit!

he has bought into a severly flawed neo-classical idealism which is based on a system where more is better and we consume more because we want more.

not consume what we need and then enjoy our lives!

his argument suggests aman lives only to work,

i feel this opinion is flawed I beleive a man only works so he can live, but todays propaganda from the media and advertising gives us these idiotic infinate wants and makes us work more to consumre more

yet we dont derive any extra pleasure from this

I love the way you all assume I am poor!

I was born into an extremely poor family I have had a poor education.

I am 21 with 3 companies, and quite succesful, however I always pay my workers well and respect them, I just dont understand why everyone accepts being treated like ****.

i dont think poor people allow themselves to be exploited more than its easier for richer countries to keep poorer countries and their citizens in poverty so that richer countries can maintain power. If all the countries in Africa had access to free trade and were not run by tyrants, there is a distinct possibility that these nations would become more powerful than the USA, UK and Australia put together.

We accept it because the way it portrayed by the media is as though it is a very far away event and has no real bearing on our day to day lives. We are happy to accept that with little or no questioning, thus the circle continues!

Perhaps you can offer a better suggestion...what do you propose? Should we take all the money from the rich and give it to the poor? That would be a very good way of eliminating all those jobs the poor were working at...no more rich, no more jobs. Perhaps you were thinking that the Government should make everyone equal? That experiment has been tried and has failed ...called communism. When there is no incentive to work, and that is what is going on in China today...no matter what the Chinese government tries, there is nothing that will get the people to be responsive to the work that is offered...try doing business with China...good luck!
As long as there are people, there will be richer and poorer...that is just how it works out. I have been very poor, and I have been very rich. I prefer being rich. I have worked my rear off to get where I am, I have had luck in getting here, but ... I have been willing to work 18 hours per day 7 days a week, without vacations of years to get here. Only those who are willing to make huge sacrifices will get where they want to be. From what I have seen in life, most people WANT the money, but want the life style LONG BEFORE they have the money. Sorry, it doesn't, nor will it work that way...ever. Good luck. I have a hard time calling "working an honest day for an honest wage" explotation...I call it work. Nothing ...NOTHING..in my life has been free. I have been given nothing. What I have, I have earned. I have it and I am keeping it...simple as that.

First of all this is a faulty premise. Most jobs in this country are from the small business. For example I work for a family owned business. The owner was once a construction worker, but now owns his own company. He borrowed money to start his business.

There are many scholarships and loans available to my kids and why will make sure they take advantage of them and get an education. With an education you have more than labour to offer.

I believe there should be a salary cap on CEO's. I think there could quite easily be a horrible penalty for any CEO/Board that takes a bonus while laying off employees.

I don't believe that we should cry for the people of the US. I work my *** off and I will never be rich. But I love my house and I have the internet, AC, cable television, etc. It's not a bad life.

Well, most people believe that the rich have more control over life then the poor do because they have a lot of money. You also don't have to be like someone else you are your own person, be yourself. You don't have to be rich to get through life happy. Most people don't really care if people boss them around they take it because of the money. Most people really need money so they would do anything to have some. If you need money put your life in God's hands and He will help you. You don't always need money to be happy in life. Just imagine if the rich people went bankrupt they probably would come running back to you for money, think about it. I hope this has answered your question. God Bless you and have a good day.

The poor in the U.S. work too hard to actually pay attention to politics. They are also mostly less educated and seem to not believe politics affect their lives, so they don't really care. It's very easy for Republicans who control the radio and tv to take advantage of this. By constantly saying the same small talking points over and over some of the poor will start to hear, and will listen, and even believe it. They only get the issues the republicans want them to hear like Dems want to raise your taxes, if they looked into the issue they would know its not true. Since they don't have the time or want to know, they don't..

Oh, I can tell YOU vote Tory.

These are the problems with capitalism, at least our working class here are very well provided for (I assume you're talking about the UK, seeing as you posted it in the UK section). We don't have people living in shanty towns or huts, working all day and night just to put bread on the table. There are very, very few people in this country who don't have any disposable income; most people who would generally be considered poor have quite a lot these days.
Yes there are rich people who probably aren't very generous people and exploit the poor, but the alternatives are socialism or, even worse, communism.

Oh, my. Where do people come up with this non-sense. Is money made by the able at the expense of the incompetent, or by the hardworking at the expense of the lazy. No its not a zero sum game. Wealth has to be made before it can be distributed and its made by the effort of every honest man doing the best he can.

“The man who does no more than physical labor, consumes the material value-equivalent of his own contribution to the process of production, and leaves no further value, neither for himself nor others. But the man who produces an idea in any field of rational endeavor---the man who discovers new knowledge—is the permanent benefactor of humanity. Material products can’t be shared, they belong to some ultimate consumer; it is only the value of an idea that can be shared with unlimited numbers of men, making all sharers richer at no one’s sacrifice or loss,……”

Yet you would destroy this and replace it with what "Socialism"?

Living under socialism. “You fear the man who has a dollar less than you, that dollar is rightfully his, he makes you feel like a moral defrauder. You hate the man who has a dollar more than you, that dollar is rightfully yours, he makes you feel that you are morally defrauded. The man below is a source of your guilt, the man above is a source of your frustration. You do not know what to surrender or demand, when to give, and when to grab, what pleasure in life is rightfully yours and what debt is still unpaid to others---you struggle to evade, as ‘theory’ the knowledge that by the moral stand you’ve accepted you are guilty every moment of your life, there is no mouthful of food you swallow that is not needed by someone somewhere on earth---and you give up the problem in blind resentment, you conclude that moral perfection is not to be achieved or desired, that you will muddle through by snatching a snatch can and by avoiding the eyes of the young, of those who look at you as if self-esteem were possible and they expected you to have it. Guilt is all that you retain within your soul---and so does every other man, as he goes past, avoiding your eyes. Do you wonder why your morality has not achieved brotherhood on earth or the good will of man to man?”

If you divided all the wealth in the world among it's population within say, 5yrs you would be back to where we are today. Some would spend spend spend, some would invest, some would speculate with there portion. You wouldn't change anything in the long term. Poor people don't all aspire to be rich, many millions are content to have enough, and be happy. If you want to be rich yourself, get up and do it!...... wealth isn't mostly thrown in peoples laps you know, it's EARNED.

Poor people DONT work their butts off. They don't do anything, that's why they are poor. If they did do something, they would have decent money to let their kids go to school. The kid would be able to get a good job and there is no more poor person. So dont feel sorry for the poor people and don't blame the rich for working their butts off.
