There was grunge music, ER/Friends/Seinfeld, the Clinton presidency, the rise of the Internet and cell phones, and war in Yugoslavia and Rwanda.
If I had to choose a philosophy for the USA in the '90s, it would be, "We wish we were the '60s."

War and terrorism, the "if you don't do what we want we will blow you up" philosophy , yob culture, binge drinking, rising prices and lower interest rates, impossible house prices that are still rising), graffiti - I think the 1990s philosophy was (and maybe still is) I want it all and up you Jack I'm Ok.
