I think it's because they sell. I don't know how many authors have written Nancy Drew or Hardy Boys mysteries, but it must be up to 10 or 12 at least by now. If you are referring to mysteries in general, I think it's because God wants us to learn more and re-develop ourselves.

This makes life exciting & interesting! How boring it would be if we knew everything, and we never knew or experienced anything new. We would be very robotic. Life would be so hum drum.
