What is the name of the movie where there is this really short kid. He goes to a Catholic school and he goes with his school on a field trip. They take a bus, fall into a lake, and he helps rescue people. He survives the accident but dies a few days later in the hospital. I think the movie was in theatres around the year 2000. Thanks!

yeah Simon Birch...and in the end Jim Carrey is the "friend" portraying the "older version" of the best friend (forgot the name) very nice movie.
