"Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible time."

It's said that it originated during the early days of the Space Race, when all those rockets kept falling out of the skies above Vandenberg AFB. An apocrophal engineer said to be Edsel Adam Murphy coined the phrase because they couldn't seem to catch a break over a long series of attempted launches. And history was made, albeit not the kind they had in mind.

Since then, a number of corrolaries have come into existence, some quite funny, but all bitterly true.

That anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It's kind of like a "Sh*t happens" saying really. It's not really a theory or anything.
