She dies just the way "Jack" said she would, old and in her warm bed. You can see on the pictures she also did most of the things she was suppose to go do with Jack once they arrived in NY: horseback riding, traveling, etc.
She dies and then she goes back to the Titanic to meet again the love of her life, Jack. How romantic! :-)

Yes, she dies of old age in her bed and her soul goes back to the ship along with everyone who died during the sinking of the Titanic.

Shynomore said it best!

She drops the Diamond, back into the drink, takes a nap, dies, rejoins her True Love and friends on the briny bottom. The End!

i think she dies, because like near the end you see her on bed and zooming into her eyeball. Then she joins jack . To me the equation goes like this
Jack is dead + Rose stil alive = Must die to join him
Rose see jack + memory/dream piece is not a repititive moment = She is with Jack = She dead

Definitely she goes to meet her lover Jack in heaven.... the camera moves to her bed for a minute and then we see her soul returning to Titanic among those who are no more now. Remember James Cameron shows us in that soul to soul meeting only those figures who lost their precious lives deep in the sea......Rose joins the group.......happily.....END.

Who said no?? She dies peacefully in her sleep, then her soul returns to the ship with all the other poor souls who died in the wreck.

It's not clear if she's sleeping or dead... even the script is vague about it:

"We PAN OFF the last picture to Rose herself, warm in her bunk. A profile shot. She is very still. She could be sleeping, or maybe something else."
