Please do.
Everybody, keep asking about math.

Some people talk like your homework is some "sacred grail", all "honor " and "valor" depending on its "purity" and if you have anyone answer your questions your "breaking a sacred commandment" and "condemned to damnation" for "cheating".

What you (and we) are doing here is learning. It's an ongoing process and its a varied process. You learn from different people with different techniques, and if math isn't your subject, you might learn something.

It breaks down like this:

I'll answer your questions for you. But, I am going to explain how it's done to show you an example to apply to other problems. When test time comes, you won't have the advantage of me helping. Plus, if you need that much help on math anyway, it's not like I am propagating your "laziness", just giving you a bit of information on a subject you'll probably barely use anyway. Some people aren't destined for math, or engineering etc. That's cool.. you like other things. But if you do learn something you NEED, that’s positive and it's all that matters.

The only challenge to people asking for homework help, I can see, is the people who are taking their tests on the "honor system", using the internet or with a take home test. And for that, I say:
Teacher's fault. All tests need to be supervised.
And even if they have gotten this far by cheating and then ACE a test by cheating again, it's not like they're going to make it into a physics or engineering PhD by that process, just probably have a hard time in college from continuing laziness. It's worth that risk for those people who just want a better explanation, because they just might be learning.

Well, I wouldn't say doing it for you is "ok" simply because how are you supposed to learn if someone does it all for you?!. Now if they are helping you understand your homework, and explain how they got the answers or whatever, then I think that's awesome, its no different then having a tutor!, if you need help and people are willing to give it to you then why not?!.

To do it, NO!!! I never give answers, I give help in the reasoning process, the working of the homework is the ONLY way you will learn. BTW, I have seen lots of wrong homework solutions.

I get irritated at those who try to impress the others by proving they can add and subtract

I agree with GoElvis. You'll never get it asking for the answer. And of course, on "this thing", if we show you how to answer the question and give you the answer in the process, I know you'll just write the answer down and not even pay attention to how we came to that conclusion.
Besides, what if the problem was 3x+3=15 solve to find the answer for x. What if we told you that answer was x=5?

You guessed it, you'd have gotten it wrong!

Look it up for yourself. They aren't the one getting the grade on it. You are.

No, it is not okay. But it is okay to ask for help. Homework is usually (not always) an extra exercise/practice for whatever was hopefully learned for the day.

No, because you are cheating yourself out of an education, instead of giving the people the actual problem give them an example and then you will see how to work the original problem

People should NOT do your homework for you ever!! However, if you need some help or an explanation, this site serves that purpose.

If I do your work, you still don't understand it, and you will not be able to understand what comes next.

Use "this thing" to ask questions that will help you understand your HW, and it will help you be a better student. :)

Good luck whatever your choice.
