If you have insurance, most insurance companies have a nurse help line that you can call free of charge that can help answer you questions. If no insurance, call First Call For Help by The United Way and they will refer you to someone that can better answer you question.

Give him water in the mean time. Never give milk when there's a fever--it really upsets the stomach.

Let the fever go. Watch it, and you did the right thing with taking him the ER when his fever got above 101. Watch him closely, and if necessary give him Tyelnol (babies or childrens dependong on his age).

Make sure he drinks water. I can't stress this enough. Try different ways--even dillute juice if you must.

You have to ride this out. A virus will take it's our course to end.

it kind of sounds like something my daughter had about a month ago. she had a virus in the back of her throat that was extremely painful, the doctor told me that if an adult had it, they would give them percoset. they ended up giving me tylenol with codeine in it for her because she would not eat anything and she was extremely dehydrated. it did the trick. if your baby is older than 6 months then try giving him some infant motrin, sometimes it works better than tylenol. if hes younger than 6 months just keep him on tylenol. also you could try giving him a popsicle, that was the only way i could get my daughter to get any fluids. and after she had a little bit of popsicle she would drink her milk. try giving him his milk cold, it may feel good on his throat. do whatever you have to do to get fluids down. the doctor told me that if my daughter didnt drink anything in 8 hours and wasnt having wet diapers to bring her in, so if your son is that way, bring him back to the er. again if he is older than 6 months maybe try giving him some pedialyte. if he has the same thing my daughter did, it will go away in a few days, but it is TOUGH to get through. so good luck to you.

Baby Motrin will help your sons sore throat. You can ask the Pharmacist where you buy it as to how much to give him if you know his current weight.

I was at a loss of what to give my daughter for a sore throat b/c she was only 9 months old and my Pediatrician is who recommended the Mortin and it worked so good. Depending on his age you can give him those teddy bear suckers to suck on b/c it relieves throat pain or maybe a throat spray. Look in the medicine section at your local walmart or pharmacy and you will see an array of stuff for his sore throat depending on his age.

You can give him warm water or something warm to drink depending on his age to soothe his throat.

Some foods that are not so harsh and easy to swallow.....Jello, Pudding, warm applesauce, mash potatoes and gravy.

Give your child pedialyte to keep him from getting dehydrated. My pediatrician suggests grape as its easier accepted by infants than any other flavors, give him lukewarm baths for his fever (not too cool) If he is congested use a vaporizer and saline drops for the nose. You can also give him infants tylenol for the fever. Hope he gets well soon!

yes milk really doesnt matter when they are sick, just hydration. push all fluids, mainly pedialyte or gatorade. try to avoid sugary stuff because it wont work for hydration as well. the best thing to do is love him up and snuggle. i would recommend going back to the dr. good luck and i hope your little guy feels better

You may want to offer him icepops to soothe his throat and to keep him hydrated.
If you are nursing, freeze your own milk. If not, you can use formula.
I do hope he is feeling better soon!
