Their body is designed to create a thick layer of fat (blubber) in order to insulate them from the cold ocean waters and also to give them more buoyancy. Fat is less dense than muscle. If whales were all muscle they would sink and swimming would be more difficult for them. They maintain a layer of fat so that it aids them in floating and makes them more able to swim more quickly. They also have a perfect streamline body for swimming such that they can swim great distances with less metabolic expenditure than it would take for a human to swim the same distance. Swimming for them might be like walking is for us. They are just designed for it, and so it is a part of their normal activity level, not strenuous exercise like swimming is for us.

it quite is helpful to them! It protects them from the chilly. Evolutionarily speaking, the better blubber a whale has the better useful it quite is defend against the chilly of the sea, so the better in all danger it quite is to reproduce and characteristic fat whale infants. human beings, even even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that, have beautiful clothing and indoor heating, so we've not have been given any evolutionary reward to having infinite blubber.

Whales have to be fat to insulate themselves from the cold in the winter, they can't get out like we can. Since they tend to live in colder climates, they develop a big layer of fat called blubber to insulate them ans keep them from loosing body heat.

Most swimmers carry alot of body fat, because cold water makes the body wanna hold onto it for insulation.

it's good excercise for humans 'cause we weren't built to swim so it challenges our muscles.
whales on the other hand were built for swimming, so good excercise for them would be to try to walk.
it's like asking why there are so many fat people, since walking is supposed to be good excercise. It's because we were built to walk, so for it to give us any excercise benifit we have to do a whole lot of it.
