Has respect for the United States ever been worse than now?

G. W. Bush, hands down, no contest! He got us into a war that's made the world hate us, he talks like he has no education, and his puffed up, holier than thou brand of Christianity makes me want to vomit. He went after the WRONG man in the aftermath of 9/11 and made this country look really stupid. I could go on and on, but I won't. Let's just say I stand by my answer 100%. And before anyone comes along and says I'm unpatriotic, I say no way. There's a gigantic difference between love for your country and making an a** out of your country's reputation by shooting off at the mouth and going after all the supposed "bad guys" in the world. Like those old Nike ads said, "Just Do It". Nevermind all the rhetoric that makes us look really bad in the eyes of the world...the first thing he should do is sit down and do some serious reading about Islam. The overwhelming majority of people who practice it are no more likely to be terrorists than you or me. It's terrorists--extreme radicals--that are the problem, and many of them are from right here in the good old US of A... Enough said!

Well... its a good thing so many "Americans" appreciate and respect the presidents anymore. In other countries, it used to be that you would be killed for talking as badly about our government as we are allowed to do. Yet we still think its OK to totally disrespect and bad-mouth all authority... overlooking the fact that none of us would even have half the liberties, freedom or thought and speech, without the history of our government whether good or bad. What a bunch of spoiled rotten brats. No wonder most countries hate us. No one has any respect anymore. Do whatever you want to... the hell w/ the rest of the world.
I can see us going places, don't you?
Not.

Bill Clinton. He commit ed a number of crimes before and after holding the Whet House. Then he took morality in the USA to an all time low that we are still sliding on.

The reasons people are giving for GW are silly. They are reasons that they are personally inconvenienced, indicating to hell with the rest of the world! As long as Americans aren't killed for a cause or have to pay more for gas.

I have a feeling that if WWII were to happen today you folks would let Hitler have Europe so that Americans would not have to be killed!

Oh and lastly we have the great disrespect that Everyone world over now has for The office of President of the USA Thanks to Bill Clinton. At least the Bush family has the honor to treat Bill as a Statesman the way that Presidents and former presidents should be treated.

The one we have now. What happened to the ideals of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? This is still a great country, but we are lacking unity, respect and leadership. And, the environment is reeling from all of the governmental changes that have occcurred. I worry about the future of planet Earth! I look forward to a new president!

George W. Bush

he is incoherent, he does not know what is the best thing for his country, he is a part of the problem when it comes to the oil companies. He does not care that these companies are gouging hard working Americans from their hard earned money.. He's making a killing out of those ridiculous prices we pay. He's a jerk, and he is the epitomy of stupidity. I can not stand him.

I think during Vietnam, respect was pretty low

I think that we are experiencing the worst ever now. Only history will tell.

In recent memory, Jimmy Carter was also pretty bad. He did nothing. He's a great ex-president. I admire his charitable work, but the country was weak under his leadership.

Carter. Inflation was terrible. He was President during the Energy crisis when the REAL price of gasoline hit an all time high.

The American prestige issue is very complicated to explain why it is the way it is right now. You can't blame it on one President either.

Wow. Harding Presidency. Taft Presidency. Andrew Jackson Presidency. I mean hell where do you start?

Like most things, the nation and its Presidents go in cycles- seems to be about 30 years we'll get a good president then we'll get some lame ones.
